Bad Hair Day in Kazakhstan!!

Hello All!

Notice the pictures of Marina showing off her wonderful hairdo. This is called hat-hair or just bad hair. :-) Now, we know the real reason she doesn't want to wear those hats, why just look what they do to her hair.

Mom and I are counting down. We got our tickets to fly from Karaganda today. I did an actual dance in front of the hotel and in front of a bunch of wedding guests, who were at our hotel. Mom, quite aggresively, grabbed the tickets and shoved them in her bag, in an effort to put an end to my celebratory dance. On of our friends here thought my dance quite entertaining. :-) Mom has been packing up our supplies and moving stuff from here to there, in an effort to feel like we are really packing. We still have just a couple of days for the real packing to take place. But, in does feel good to put stuff on piles. :-)

Marina is fairing well. She is teething, so she is a bit cranky. We are hoping the teeth bust through before we get out the planes. ahhhhh!!

Not too much going on today, so mom and I compiled our top ten things we can't wait to get home to:

10. Ice!!
9. Being able to drive our cars!
8. Wal-Mart, baby!
7. Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel, Red Robin....etc--no more beans, noodles, and rice
6. US dollars, not tenge!
5. English on TV!
4. Fresh water out of the tap....goes good on a toothbrush :-)
3. More than one room in our dwelling!
2. More than three pair of pants to wash and wear!
1. Friends and family!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers, as our time here in Kazakhstan draws to a close.

I was so happy to hear that your travels home are coming near. I ran into some common acquaintances (probably not spelled correctly)over the past few days and they were excited to learn that your adoption was finally happening! I will fill in the details once your home - but the prayer chain has grown and many are wishing you safe travels home and many warm blessings for your family. Went through some bins from when Hailey was that little and found some very cute shoes and dresses! Hailey looked at them and said "mine" and I told her they were too small and that I was going to give them to Baby Marina so now everytime she decides something of hers is too small she hands it to me and says "baby maina (the "r" is silent, right?) It is really cute and she can't wait to say hi to your baby girl. Trevor can't quite understand all the talk about this baby when he doesn't see her - I guess he is more a visual little guy, but all the same he knows her name by the pictures and I believe once he meets her it will all fall together. Best wishes on your return journey! I read in a magazine that if traveling on a plane with an infant and they seem to be fussy with ear popping pain that having them suck on something like a pacifier, bottle, or sippy cup is supposed to help ease the discomfort - thought that info. might come in handy. Love you and look forward to having you back in the states!!

It's so exciting to think that this part of your journey is coming to a close and we'll finally get to meet the newest member of our extended family!!

Grandma said that you called early this morning. She's very much looking forward to seeing all of you...she misses both of you very much.

We will continue to keep you in our prayers (especially as you prepare for the long trip home).

With love,

Patty
